Almond "AL" A. Foster of Lake City, passed away Friday, May 23, 2008 at Autumnwood of McBain. He was 97 years old. Al was born October 19, 1910 in Sears, Michigan to Robert A. and Pearl Rose (Baldwin) Foster. He married Patricia Gray June 3, 1984 in Lake City. Al was a manager at Jay T. Mills Ice Cream and Loveland Drug Stores both in Grand Rapids. His family moved to Lake City in 1964 and opened Foster's Super Market located in the downtown area. In 1972 Foster's Super Market moved to its present location on M-55 and he retired in 1997. Al was a Life and Dual member of the Malta Lodge in Grand Rapids and F. & A.M. Lodge 408 of Lake City. He was a Past Master of the Malta Lodge and served as Chaplain in Lake City Lodge 408. He was a member of the Scottish Rite and Past Ambassador of the Saladin Shriners. Al received the Lake City Citizen of the year in 1989. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and bowling. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; children, Philip Clifford (Gloria) Foster, Paul D. (Marcia) Foster and Peggy Ann (David) Phillips all of Lake City. Also a brother, Robert (Norine) Foster of Cadillac and a sister, Esther (Richard) Gray of Spring Lake; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Leota, second wife, Katherine, three brothers, Wesley, Wilmer, and Jack and two sisters, Hattie Pearl, and Betty Ellen. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Young Funeral Home in Lake City with Mr. Dale Fockler officiating. Visitation will be Monday, 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lake City Cemetery.
